The Chicagoland Speedway is a 1.5-mile (2.414-km) D-shaped oval located in Joliet, Illinois.

The track is well known for being the 2006 race that killed Shane Clarke II. The track has also produced wild finishes.

Notable finishes[edit | edit source]

  • 2005: With seven laps remaining, David Peteyon hit the turn 1 wall while leading the race, this led to a four lap shootout between Jaya Antoure, and Michael Scott, with Scott passing Antoure coming to the white flag to take the win.
  • 2006: Rondal Portland and Chadler Blake battled for several laps, before Portland knocked Blake up the race track with 3 laps remaining, Blake then ran down the 96 of Portland, only for Portland to beat him by 4 hundredths of a second at the line.
  • 2009: After a cycle of green flag stops, Carson Brooks had the lead, however he lost a cylinder coming to the white flag, and was passed coming to the checkered flag by Alexis Aldridge.
  • 2010: A late race accident caused the race to end under cuation, Chadler Blake held off the charge to win the race.
  • 2011: Like with the 2010 race, a crash caused by Michael Scott and Carson Brooks, ended the race under caution, unlike the 2010 race, Brian Wilson passed Rondal Portland coming to take the caution to win the race
  • 2012: Kasey Lautenger and Brian Wilson battled hard in the closing stages of the race, Lautenger edged out Wilson by .01 of a second, moments after they took the checkered flag, Lautenger got into Carson Plrank going into turn 1 causing the 5 car to be damaged.
  • 2013: The first that had ever used overtime. Austin Warwick got involved in a wreck with 4 laps remaining to force the race into overtime. Brian Wilson and Rondal Portland, led the field in overtime, however in the second lap of the first overtime, Casey Lester spun in the tri-oval causing the race to be forced into a second overtime, in which that one Logan Chin passed both of them in the tri-oval to take the win.
